Artistic Director

Owner and founder of Erie Dance Theater Company, Nathaniel Johnson has extensive experience as both a dance instructor and artistic director.

Mr. Johnson attended Du Point Manuel High Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, KY. After graduation he was awarded a 4 year scholarship to Western Kentucky University where he earned his degree in performing arts with an emphasis in Dance. He moved to Erie in 1992 as the director for the Long’s School of Dance Jazz Department. During this time he was also an instructor for the SPAVA Dance at Central High School for 7 years.





Dana McMillin, a native of Meadville, PA, began studying ballet, pointe, jazz, and modern at an early age under the instruction of Gretchen Myers of Allegro Dance Arts. After graduating from Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance with a minor in Arts Administration in 2005, she took a job in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Mercyhurst. Dana then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education Administration. She has had a variety of responsibilities at the university, but most notably has been the dance liaison to the admissions office as well as the assistant director for admissions for over ten years.

Dana Borczon has been a proud stay at home mom for 14 yrs. She truly believes that children were built to run and play and that the human body was meant to be in motion. She is a personal trainer, coach and group fitness instructor. She was a member of the ’86 MPS state championship basketball team, a Thiel College cross country individual national qualifier and one of the first women amateur boxers to come from the Lower Eastside Gym. Dana has been immersed in sports her entire life and is now convinced that dancers are among the elite of all athletes. She enjoys training the company dancers as well as the preschooler’s, enabling them to challenge themselves as they gain strength, stamina and confidence.

John Marriott started dancing at age 15 at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics in Washington State from which he graduated in 2005 with a focus in modern dance. John has also studied at Oregon Ballet theater for the 2003-2004 school year and also lyrical jazz with Mary Hunt in Portland Oregon from 2001-2005. John went on to study modern dance and choreography for the 2005-2006 school year at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. John entered into the dance pedagogy program at Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Kuopio, Finland, graduating with a BA in 2017 with a major in jazz dance and a minor in modern.

Kelly Stolar is a native of the Buffalo, N.Y. area. Following graduation from Allegheny College with a B.A., Kelly established and operated a voluntary, free dance program for over 10 years in one of Pittsburgh’s inner-city communities. Since moving to Erie in 2000, Kelly has been an instructor at the American College Dance Festival, Kristin’s Dance Company, Mercyhurst University, Erie Dance Conservatory and was the previous Master Class Chair of the Erie Dance Consortium.

Mariah Johnson has been studying dance for 19 years, studying various styles of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, modern, hip-hop, and pointe. Mariah has had the opportunity to perform with Erie Dance Theater’s Company and its predecessor for the past 16 years.

Lana Crotty

Ms. Lana Crotty is excited to be a part of the EDT family for the 2018/2019 season! From Fairport NY, Ms. Lana first came to Erie PA to attend Mercyhurst College. She graduated with degrees in Dance Performance and Business Marketing, followed by a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership. At Mercyhurst University, Ms. Lana served as an adjunct faculty member for the Dance Department. She has taught classes as a ballet / alternative technique instructor at Sovereign Ballet,  Lake Erie Ballet, as well as Erie Bayfront Dance under the direction of Nate Johnson. High points during her time teaching were choreographing for the Lake Erie Ballet’s annual Nutcracker, and Erie Bayfront Dance Senior Company’s local presentations such as the MLK celebration and Erie Festival of Dance, as well as the company’s tour for Disney’s Magic Music days in Orlando FL. Seeing her students find passion for dance, and watching their achievements unfold is a gift that she treasures.
